Vaping

Vaping is one of the more recent stop smoking aids to hit the market. The use of a vape along with one-to-one stop smoking support has helped many people quit smoking and it could help you too.

Vapes, e-cigarettes and e-cigs are all using nicotine in vapour rather than the smoke you get from a normal cigarette. They don’t burn tobacco or produce tar or carbon monoxide which are the most damaging elements of cigarettes.

They’re not completely safe but experts believe they are at least 95% less harmful than cigarettes. Although the vapour does contain some harmful chemicals, these are at a much lower level.

Vapes, e-cigarettes and e-cigs come in many different forms so it can be hard to work out which is the right one for you. A rechargeable e-cigarette with a refillable tank delivers nicotine faster than a disposable model. It is therefore likely to give you a better chance of quitting. If you’re a lighter smoker, cigalikes could work for you. A specialist vape store should be able to advise you.

E-cigarettes are not currently available through the NHS so you will have to purchase your own rather than get one on prescription.

Just remember, you don’t have to go it alone. Your local stop smoking provider will still support and guide you through this journey. For more information about how we can help, complete the referral form or call Healthy Sandwell on 0800 011 4656.
