Crossroads Caring for Carers – LGBTQ+ Support Service
The Crossroads LGBTQ+ Support Service aims to deliver mental and physical health support
and activities to carers aged 50+ from LGBTQ+ community and expand delivery to all 6 towns of
Sandwell.
Crossroads Carers Wellbeing & Dementia Service
Our free service aims to help improve the overall health and wellbeing of unpaid adult carers
living in Sandwell and surrounding areas. The team help unpaid carers to maintain or regain a
sense of self, quite often lost as caring duties are prioritised, by offering pathways to making
friends and rediscovering skills, whilst developing confidence in their caring abilities. Dementia
awareness sessions are also available to carers of someone living with dementia. You can self refer or refer someone else to our service via the website or email.
Crossroads Accelerated Response Service (CARS)
This service provides the same high-quality services that our well-established Carers
Assistance Line can, with additional features for cared for individuals or those who have recently
been discharged from hospital. Free to access, our service is open to all adults who are unpaid
carers or have assessed care needs aged 18+ living in Sandwell. CARS can help you to manage
your life and retain your independence with support including - prescription collection and
shopping tasks, IT support and help with online bill payments, arranging and accompanying
people to GP or hospital appointments, arranging in-home training on equipment use via our inhouse trainer, suppling Winter Warm Packs to carers and cared-for individuals and much more.
Communities in Sync: WDH Sandwell (Wider Determinants of HealthSandwell)
WDH Sandwell (Wider Determinants of Health Sandwell) is an initiative that addresses a range
of social, environmental, and economic factors impacting the health and well-being of the local
population. These factors, known as the wider determinants of health, directly influence both
physical and mental health outcomes. WDH Sandwell offers a range of support, services and
activities, which aims to improve the overall well-being of residents by tackling the underlying
issues that affect their health. Delivered by 15 Sandwell community partners, and in partnership
with the Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BCHFT), by addressing these wider
determinants, the initiative seeks to create a healthier, more resilient community.
For all Sandwell residents 18+, with targeted support for Black, Asian and minority ethnic
groups, Central and Eastern European (CEE) nationals, Refugees and Migrants, people who have
disabilities and/or long-term conditions, women over 50, and people living in areas of high
deprivation.
Funded until the end of September 2025.
Communities in Sync: Sandwell Talking Therapies Plus
Sandwell Talking Therapies Plus is a free and confidential counselling service for individuals 18
and older who reside in Sandwell. We provide support for mental health challenges like
anxiety, stress, depression and bereavement. Our therapists are kind and understanding, and
we never judge you. We help you in the way that works best for you either by phone, video,
email and face-to-face in a community location you are comfortable with.
We do this by taking a flexible, creative and culturally appropriate approach to delivering
Talking Therapies, for example, providing access to therapists with a range of language skills
and matching service users to therapists with the same background. You can self-refer, or you
can ask your GP, health professional, or community organisation to refer you via their website.
We will call you back on the number you give. You can also contact our Single Point of Access
using the details above.
Our Talking Therapies Plus service aims to support people aged 18+ from underserved
communities in Sandwell which may include Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups; refugees
and migrants; LGBTQ+ people; older adults; and men.
