About Move More Sandwell

What is #MoveMoreSandwell?

Local organisations have been working together as the “#MoveMoreSandwell” partnership to increase physical activity levels in the Borough.

Our aims… 1) Increase the number of local physical activity opportunities and 2) Promote those opportunities and get more people active.

Who is Involved?

The #MoveMoreSandwell partners include the Council’s Public Health Team,  Voluntary Sector organisations like SCVO and the Albion Foundation, Active Black Country and of course our Leisure Service Providers SLT and Places Leisure.   Young people are represented via the SHAPE Forum.

Our Ambassador is the awesome Blind Dave Heeley. You can read his amazing story here.

Towards a Stronger Sandwell!

The #MoveMoreSandwell initiative sticks to our “Stronger Sandwell” principles for improving health. For example, we make sure that nobody gets left behind and have a focus on providing activities for young people, older people and those with disabilities. And like any Stronger Sandwell initiative it’s driven by the local community’s skills, experience and ideas.

You can read here about how we turned one local girl’s big idea for getting people active into a reality. Or, if you love cycling, here’s a way to become part of the #MoveMoreSandwell initiative as a Ride Activator.
