Big Ideas

What’s the Big Idea?

Our Stronger Sandwell approach is all about harnessing the strengths in our community, including local people’s skills, energy and ideas!  This way, we can do Public Health work WITH people rather than TO them!

Our ‘Big Ideas’ Initiative is a simple one.  We are inviting people across Sandwell to tell us their ideas for how we can help people improve their physical or mental health.  Then we work with them to make their ideas a reality.

Of course, big ideas can come from little people.  So we’re also asking school kids to send us their Big Ideas and tell us what they think we should be doing.  We’ll be making the best ones happen!

Holly had an idea…

Holly from Tipton, a little girl with a big idea, wanted to get people active and also make a difference to help kids less fortunate than her.

She wanted to hold a fun run to raise money for a children’s charity, and hold it at Victoria Park in Tipton – her local park.

Holly took pen to paper and wrote to us to ask for our help to make her idea become a reality.

Everyone worked together with Holly and her Mum to organise the event! It was called Holly’s Race and it was a big success.  Loads of local families tool part, and most importantly it raised over £1,000 for Save the Children!

Tell us your Big Idea!

We want to hear from you. What change in your local area do you think would help make kids and adults healthier?
