Eat well in schools

We are currently working with local schools to help share learning about food and healthy eating.

Our schools are working hard to help children learn how to eat well, move more and to provide healthier school meals. Our biggest aim is to reduce the amount of sugar local children are eating each day. There are many ways to do this.

Schools are using the Change 4 Life School Zone resources. They are also taking part in our local health improvement programmes and developing their own School Food Projects.

Change 4 Life

The school zone from Change 4 Life has some great resources for schools to access. This includes resources to help children understand what is in their food and how to make healthier choices throughout the day.

Parents and children can also use the Sugar Swap app and the Be Food Smart app. These can help you to understand more about healthy food options.

Change 4 Life have also launched the 10 minute Shake Up games. These games have been designed using your child’s favourite characters from Disney and Pixar. Each option helps your child achieve the exercise they need.

You can find further resources through Public Health England. They offer a range of flexible nutrition resources across different subject areas. Each are designed to be used throughout the school year to encourage pupils to build healthier habits for life. Find out about the range of resources on offer on the Public Health England website.

They also offer teacher training on different areas of healthy eating to support work in the classroom.
